After two wonderful days with our friends in Grants Pass ( thanks Kealan, Sean, Isabella, & Kevin ) . . . Out of the weather dry and refreshed . . We moved on to Ashland. Great County Park
There we are off to the right.
Actually, this is "the next day". The night b/4 we had another serious blow. "Batten down the hatches" kind of summarizes the situation. Must have been 50mph again. We are "Rockin and Rollin" which is cool but then the pin that holds up the windward wall pops out of its bracket and we are wondering if the wall will hold. Quick fix . . . Tension the aft wall using the handy ratcheted tie down. Still, we don't sleep well.
So far, the weather has not been our friend.
That was Feb 8th ... The 9th we made it to California. We decided to get off the beating path which translates . . . Get off I5 at Yreka and take State Route 3. Very cool winding road into the wilderness . . Nice to leave the freeway. About 100 miles of backroad. After crossing a pass that was just below the snow level we passed by Trinity Lake . . . A reservoir created by a dam. Our picture does not do it justice but if you look carefully you can see that the "lake" is seriously empty.
Rats . . .that photo in on the phone . . .take our word for it . . The lake is 70 feet below it normal level
Anyway, that side trip ended in Weaverville . . A town long that once boasted 20,000 residence and its own China town from the 1860 gold rush . . . Now an economic backwater.
Thanks to our Fans . . Keep those encouraging emails coming . . We appreciate the interest.
