The Good, The Bad, and ...

Well, . . . We'll get to that later.

Let's start with "The good"

-- Despite serious ( I am not joking) rain (as in "inches) and wind ( 20 - 30 steady, Gusting in the 40's) we did not have the dreaded "dripping over the bunk" experience.
-- Though we had concerns, the bed situation was really OK.  Long enough to accommodate Clark, soft enough so that we didn't feel the plywood below.  No drafts of any consequence.
-- Hey this works 😴
-- Also, Clark scored major points with an early Valentine 😇

Now, "The Bad"

-- Substantial water intrusion. We know this thing is water tight in normal rain but it is now clear that it does not do well in a hurricane. A bit of detective work revealed several problems.  The foam at the apex was soaked and the seams on the windward side also collected water.  Resulting in pools of water at the corners.  since the conditions were extreme this may not be an important problem -- hope not, since it is not clear how to correct this.

And now ... Drum roll ... " The humiliation. "

--  We broke camp promptly at 10am Stowed the gear, disconnected from electricity & water.  Propane tank back under the settee.  Backed the car into position connected the hitch.  Stabilizers up, ready to go -- but Mary says "I just don't think the hitch got connected this time". So, we look at it.  We jump on the rear bumper of the trailer.  The car goes up and down and the trailer stays on the hitch.   Mary says, "It just didn't sound right ". Clark says "Nonsense".

Dumb move.

We pull out of the RV park up a small hill and over a tiny bump and "Oh Jesus" the trailer falls off the hitch!  So there it is, roaming around behind us still connected to the car by the safety chains. Fortunately, we are only going 10 mph and we do manage to get this new " caravan " stopped without damaging the car or the trailer.  Four way flashers on . . . Still raining like cats and dogs . . . Can't get the darn thing to connect ... Two lane road and we are "parked" in one of the lanes. Traffic zooming around .. A passerby stops .. Reaches under the hitch pulls something and VIOLA. . Back in business.

You would think that Clark would have learned his lessons by now. His only comment:

" I hate it when she's right like this".

So much for his good karma from the valentine. 😬
